Character : Usain Bolt

For our  Six Cs of Education Unit we have chosen Usain Bolt as one of the people to represent character.

Usain Bolt is an 8 time Olympic gold medalist.  He had won an unprecedented 9th gold for the 4×100  but was stripped of it after a team mate tested positive for a banned substance.  He holds gold medals for the 100m & 200m races in 3 consecutive Olympics which is truly a remarkable feat.

Usain is quick to mention in the video that real work goes on behind the scenes and often you don’t want to train but know you must train.  Bolt says it is “hard work, day in and day out, you sacrifice”.  His own father says that he can’t watch the training as it is so hard to see his son like that.

From humble roots to arguably the greatest sprinter of all time this is Usain Bolt.

The video below gives you just a glimpse into the kind of character of this man. We put it into our Character Learning Skills lesson plan that’s part of our.

Character Lesson Plan Discussion Ideas:

  • What does Bolt says is the hard part? Why is that?
  • What do you think is the most impressive thing Bolt has achieved?
  • What is one thing we can take from what Bolt has shared?
