Google Drive is fantastic. Lots of us use it in our classrooms with our school Google accounts.

Google Docs and Google Slides are great because you can share them with others in different ways.

Share with others – CAN EDIT

If you’re a teacher, you might share a document with another teacher so you can collaborate together.

In this case, you would probably let them EDIT the document.

Share with others – CAN VIEW

On the other hand, if you’re a teacher sharing a document with your students, you probably would share it with them to VIEW-ONLY for obvious reasons.

(Or, if you’re a teacher-author selling a resource to other teachers, you would share a Google Doc as VIEW-ONLY so that other teachers don’t accidentally make changes to the original file.)

Unfortunately, Google hasn’t provided an easy way for us to copy an entire Google Drive folder

This is a basic tutorial showing you how to

  1. select a bunch of files in your Google Drive (using CTRL+A or holding down SHIFT to select multiple files.)
  2. making a copy of the selected files
  3. moving your copied files into another folder for organization.

NOTE: Teachers Pay Teachers has a limit to how many files you can have in a Google Drive product. If you purchased one of our 21st Century Bundle or another one of our products with a lot of files, you may need to make your own copy of the Google Drive files.

FYI As an alternative, if you’re super tech-savvy, you might consider using Google Backup and Sync

Google Backup and Sync is kind of like Google’s version of Dropbox.

You install it on your computer and decide which Google Drive folders to monitor and sync. I like it because I find it is much easier to rename files in File Explorer on my Windows laptop than it is to rename them in the cloud using Google Drive on my browser.
